Objective Application of transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) guide the central type atrial septal defect closure during the minimally invasive surgery, evaluate the clinical value of TEE in the operation.Method Selected 37 patients with the central type atrial septal defect in our hospital Cardiac surgery ,Before the surgery, transthoracic echocardiography was applied for screenimg, during the the minimally invasive surgical closure we reassessed the sizes of the defects and their remaining margins, designated the suitable occluders by TEE , include the atrial septal defect location, size, shape, each section of residual diameter, guiding the whole process of occlusion and evaluateing the effect immediately after operation. After 3 months,6 months, 1 year observe whether the occluder shift off, and there is no residual shunt and other complications. Results Excluded 1 cases of subarachnoid atrial septal defect by TEE.The occluder device was successfully implanted in 35 patients and 1 patient failing to receive this procedure, 97.2% were successfully closed.Include 2 patients were found with trace residual shunt and only 1 patient also was found after 3months.Follow-ups at intervals showed the occluders stayed firmly and echoned clearly. No notable residual shunt or valve regurgitation was observer. Conclusion Transesophageal echocardiography was performed throughout the course of minimally invasive closure ,TEE has important clinical significance.
