Surface modification of biomaterials with balanced biological property,i.e.inhibit the adhesion of pathogenic bacteria but promote the positive functions of mammalian cells,is highly desired.Tantalum oxide coating is chemically stable and possesses good cytocompatibility,however,its antibacterial activity need to be improved.Accordingly,the plasma sprayed tantalum oxide coating was further treated by silver plasma immersion ion implantation process(Ag PⅢ).
