Statistics shows that,tailing pond in China features large quantity,small size,low safety level and improper design of most of medium and small size tailing ponds.Moreover,the downstream of most tailing ponds is residential area,industrial and mining enterprises or key towns,so improving management on safety of tailing pond and understanding physical properties and motion law of dam building materials for tailing pond play an important role in conducting an in-depth study on mechanism of tailing dam failure,decreasing tailing dam failure,assuring safe operation of tailing pond,making it better serve safe operation of mine,healthy and rapid development of national economy.
