Litchi is an anthocyanic fruit,becoming red when mature.However,the coloration pattern during maturation differs among cultivars,providing materials for comparative studies to probe into the mechanisms in coloration,which is related to chlorophyll degradation and anthocyanin accumulation.In stay-green cultivars,like Feizixiao,chlorophyll degradation in the pericarp was much slower than in red cultivars,like Nuomici.Exogenous ABA promoted anthocyanin synthesis but not on chlorophyll degradation.
