Based on the clarification of the measurement of entrepreneurship-based culture capital, the county-level and provincial-level analyses are conducted on culture capital and its influence on the development of regional economy in Jiangsu Province from 1990 to 2010 with employment in private ownership enterprises and patents granted as proxy variables for entrepreneurial spirit and innovative spirit.Findings of this study are as follows: the quality of cultural capital of the region escalates;cultural capital displays regional differences with a spacial characteristic of stronger cultural capital in the south than in the north;cultural capital produces economic effects and the effects on the provincial level are stronger than the effects on the county level;the economic effects of cultural capital vary on different levels;the influence of innovative spirit containing local government entrepreneurship on economy is particularly conspicuous and the cultural embeddedness of economic development in Jiangsu bears distinct local traits.
