Uranium is a natural actinide element predominantly found as uranyl U(VI)species in biological media.The study of interactions between U(VI)and biomolecules,especially proteins,can provide useful information for understanding the transportation,absorption and deposition pathways of uranium in vivo[1].On the other hand,protein phosphorylation is one type of important post-translational modification(PTM),and plays a significant role in a wide range of cellular processes.Thus,it is of great interest to study the interactions of U(VI)ions and phosphorylated proteins.In this study,in order to avoid the complexity of U(VI)-protein matrix,a phosphorylated pentapeptide(WpTPpTW,P1)was designed and synthesized as a model to mimic possible coordinate sites in phosphorylated proteins,and the U(VI)-peptide complexes were investigated through experimental and theoretical approaches[2].
