Nanoscale twins have attracted significant attention due to their unique roles in the strengthening of nanostructured metals.It has been shown that twin planes in the nano-twinned metals provide adequate barriers to dislocation transmission, leading to a Hall-Petch-type relationship between the strength and the decreasing twin boundary spacing, similar to the effect of traditional grain boundary strengthening in nanocrystalline metals.
