Sample of Er5In2Sb with a total of 3 g was synthesized by arc melting of high-purity elements 99.9 wt.%Er,99.99 wt.%In and 99.9 wt.%Sb under argon atmosphere.The Er5In2Sb alloy was remelted three times to ensure complete homogeneity.Weight losses of the Er5In2Sb alloy was checked to be less than 1 wt%.After melting,the samples of Er5In2Sb was enclosed in an evacuated quartz tube and annealed at 1023 K for 720 h,and then cooled down to room temperature in furnace.The crystal structure of new ternary compounds Er5In2Sb was studied using X-ray powder diffraction data by Rietveld method.The compounds crystallized in the hexagonal,space group P63/mc m(No.193)with the Mn5Si3[1] structure type and lattice parameters a =8.8075(1)(A),c =6.3166(1)(A),V =424349(A)3,z=2 and px=9.350 g/cm3.The reliability factorscharacterizing the Rietveld refinement procedure are: Rp=11.81%,Rwp=15.22%,and RB=7.79%,RF=5.61%.
