Structural components made of composite laminates may be subjected to impact loading.Under such intense loading conditions, the laminates may suffer dynamic delamination in between layers and thus lose load-bearing capabilities.Through-thickness reinforcement has been proposed to enhance the resistance to interfacial crack initiation and propagation in the laminates. However, the effects of such through-thickness reinforcement have not been well understood under high-rate loading conditions.
