Background: Pelvic and low back pain among pregnant women after the first trimester and forwards is a common occurrence.It is partly related to the laxity of ligaments around the spine and the enlarging foetus and its expanding intrapelvic pressure.Current treatment options for pelvic and low back pain during pregnancy, including exercises, massages and pregnancy belt,are only temporary and empirical, acupuncture may provide an alternative option.
