A new method was investigated in this paper to separate ginsenoside-Re from ginseng flower bud without macroporous adsorptive resins or n-butyl alcohol.Flower bud was selected for the high content of ginsenoside-Re.Dried bud was soaked and extracted with enthanol, after heated reflux the extraction was filtrated and condensed under vacuum distillation to evaporate the ethanol, and then precipitated with a lower concentration enthanol to separate tannin. After that process the supernatant was condensed again, then extracted with organic solvent aether to separate the chlorophyll.Water layer was collected, with volatilizing of extracting, Re precipitated as white particle.Take purity and recovery of Re as indexes experimental factors were investigated including: ethanol concentration (both extraction and precipitate), extraction times, separation solvent, and standing temperature. The extraction condition was fixed finally as: 70% ethanol(v∶v) concentration was used for extraction with the solid-liquid ratio 8∶1 for three times, then extraction was filtered and condensed, 50%ethanol(v∶v) was used for precipitation, diethyl ether was used to separate the chlorophyll. The water layer was deposited in an environment temperature of 4 *C.This process could achieve a selective separation of ginsenoside Re with the recovery of 1.2%, the content of Re in white power of 40.11%.
