We have developed magnetic bionanocomposites from chitosan (CS) biopolymer and montmorillonite clay loaded with magnetic nanoparticles (MPs).From the X-ray diffraction studies, the nanoclay exfoliation was found to improved due to the inclusion of magnetic particles with glycerol plasticizers. It was found that the MPs were able to coat the nanoclay structures.TEM results show the dispersion of clay and MPs, where the average particle size of MPs is about 27nm.Magnetics susceptibility tests indicate that all samples show paramagnetic and some show superparamagnetic properties. The susceptibility temperatures for different concentrations of clay and magnetic particles also change due to thermal coarsening of biopolymeric samples.
