As per Census 2011:377 million i.e approximately 31.2％ of the total population live in towns No.of towns increased from 5161 in 2001 to 7933 in 2011.India's urban population is almost equal to the combined urban population of United States,UK and FranceNet decadal growth of urban population is more than the rural growth.
