Polyaluminocarbosilane (PACS) can be employed as precursor not only for SiC fibers of ultrahigh temperature resistance, but also for SiC ceramic matrix and binders of excellent performance.In this work ,PACS was prepared by using low-softening-point polycarbosilane(LPCS), which was previously obtained by pyrolysis of polydimethylsilane (PDMS) at high temperature under pressure.GPC, 1H NMR, FT-IR, TGA and elemental analysis were used to analyze the composition and structure of the PACS precursor.Furthermore, the ceramization process of the PACS precursors with different oxygen content was also investigated.Experimental results showed that besides excellent melt-spinnability, as synthesized PACS precursor also had high ceramic yield, which would benefit the application of the preceramic polymers to prepare Al-containing SiC fibers as well as ceramic matrix and binders.
