Detecting regional patterns of past climate variability depends on temporally stable proxies.In this study, we developed a millennium-scale tree-ring δ13C chronology combining two annual-resolution tree-ring δ13C chronologies since 1800 from long-lived Qilian juniper (Sabina przewalskii) to assess the stability of the climate signal in China s hyper-arid Qaidam Basin.
