Jatropha curcas is a droughts resistant energy crop cultivated in Tropical and Sub-Tropical Countries for the production of biofuels (vegetable oil, biodiesel, bio-kerosene).Currently what is left after the oil is extracted from its seeds the seedcake-has little or no value due to the presence of some toxic compounds (Phorbol esters, Curcin). The proposed approach includes a new proprietary process technology for the production of higher quality vegetable oil, the recovery valuable bioactive compounds for medicinal applications and proteins for feed production.Through the addition of an aqueous fraction that contains an antioxidant (Hidrox(C)), the process leads to producing a lower acidity and more stable seed oil for biofuels production, hydrosoluble metabolites and proteins of pharmaceutical interest (in the aqueous fraction), and through an additional sodium hydroxide washing, a detoxified biomass with a significant protein content suitable for animal feed production.
