Physiology is originally the offspring of medicine.It was described as early as in 黄帝内经 (1115 C.E.-1234 C.E.) and by Hippocrates of Kos (460 C.E.– 370 C.E.),the father of Western medicine.William Harvey (1578-1657) was the first to describe the systemic circulation,and is recognized as the father of modern physiology.
