In this talk,we discuss various conflicting objectives in the study of dynamics and control. We start out by talking about the well-known concept of delayed resonator for vibration suppression. We then continue to discuss the stability and performance of control systems.Examples of multiple conflicting performance objectives of control systems are discussed. We further review the method of multi-objective optimization and discuss the evolutionary algorithm and cell mapping hybrid method for solving the multi-objective optimization problem. We also illustrate the advanced algorithms of the parallel cell mapping methods with sub-division techniques.Interesting examples of linear and nonlinear controls are presented.
