This paper is based on my study on a visual ethnography in which I investigated how the secondary school teachers from the Bugis ethnic group in South Sulawesi were engaging in reflective practice.The objective of the study was to explore how the ways of knowing and doing of the Bugis accommodate the western concept of reflection.I conceptualized reflective practice as: 1)Learning from experience by identifying a problem(Dewey,1933; Schon,1983; 1987); 2)Learning through dialogue or conversation(Connelly & Clandinin 1989; 1995).Through reviewing the concept of RP and observation of the teachers live in the community,I identified one value of the collective In this paper,I will present my finding,one collective value of the Bugis that accommodates teachers reflective practice,name maparung-panrung.
