Introduction:(-)-Epigallocatechin gallate(EGCG),a major component of green tea,has been reported to have in vitro antiviral activities against diverse families of viruses,including HIV-1.In light of extensive use of SIV infection of macaques as the non-human primate model for HIV/AIDS research,we examined whether EGCG can inhibit SIV and SHIV infection.
