Influenza virus spreads around the world every year.Most transmission occuurs in the community, and perhaps as much as one third of transmission occurs in households.Therefore house hold studies can provide useful information on ageand sex-specific transmissibility of influenza viruses.I will describe large household studies recently conducted in Hong Kong, and illustrate some interesting findings on influenza epidemiology.
