Exposure to inorganic arsenic compounds (sodium arsenate,iAsv,sodium arsenite,iAsⅢ,or arsenic trioxide,As2O3) impair multi-organ (skin,liver,lung,kidney,and brain) function and eventually induce cancers in humans.iAsv is the main form of contaminated drinking water in an endemic area of chronic arsenicism in China.Soluble arsenic compounds are rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract,and then the parent compound and metabolites are excreted into bile and urine through biotransformation by reduction and methylation in the liver.Arsenic speciation was performed using HPLC-ICP MS system,and we found that arsenic excreted into bile in the methylarsenic-diglutathione (MADG) and/or dimethylarsinic acid (DMAv) forms in orally iAsV-exposed rats.
