Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a demyelinating disease driven by autoreactive T in a chronic inflammatory process.MS typically presents a sexual dimorphism (more frequent in young females with a female-to-male ratio of 3-2∶1).A worsening of symptoms in the premenstrual and postmenopausal period and a better clinical course during pregnancy have been reported.The male sex may present a poorer prognosis with increased mortality over expected levels.The spectrum of gonadal function in MS patients ranges from hyper-to hypo-function depending on the course of the disease,the presence of relapse and the concurrent therapy.Clinical and laboratory findings of hyperandrogenism in fertile women with MS have been reported,with increased circulating levels of ovarian origin (total and free testosterone).
