We studied the fabrication and sensing characteristics of long-period fiber grating (LPFG) sensors written in the micro-structure and tapered specialty fibers.The micro-structure in the fiber cladding area was used to change the laser-induced refractive index modulation based on the different physical mechanism due to the heating and cooling processing of CO2 laser.
