Pain is one of the most widespread and difficult syndromes of humans[1-6].The cannabinoid system has been demonstrated to modulate the acute and chronic pain of multiple origins[1-3].(m)VD-hemopressin(α)(VD-Hpα),an 11-residue α-hemoglobin-derived peptide,was recently reported to function as a selective agonist of cannabinoid CB1 receptor in vitro[2-3,7].To characterize its behavioral and physiological properties,in the present work,we investigated the in vivo effects of(m)VD-Hpα in mice.(m)VD-Hpα induced dose-dependent analgesia after supraspinal and spinal administration,whereas(m)VD-Hpα had no effect on nociceptive threshold after systemic administration.
