Stakeholder approaches had been applied to the management of organizations with a view to the improvement of all areas of performance,including economic,safety,future policies etc.The problem of water security in urban areas in developing countries is a major concern.It must be coupled with components of institutional development and greater stakeholder involvement.This paper reviews the origins of stakeholder theory and uses of stakeholder analysis,especially in the field of water supply management,discusses some of the challenges and limitations of existing methods for stakeholder analysis,provides suggestions on water supply management in China.
