One of the first traces modernisation left on most cities physical structure is the destruction of the city walls.Both in the West and in the East-since Viennas famous Ringstrasse-city walls were demolished to give air-light-green to the angst/dense, often of medieval origin, city cores.But substantially their fall implied the opening-up of cities to an unlimited urban growth, necessary for their development.
