Polymer dispersed liquid crystal (PDLC) films were prepared by thermal polymerization-induced phase separation in epoxy monomer/polyamine/liquid crystal (LC) mixtures.Effects of trithylamine as catalyst on the curing process and the electro-optical properties of PDLC films were studied.Furthermore,PDLC films with different amount of trithylamine were obtained to find out the best ratio of catalyst.The experiment suggested that adding trithylamine into the mixtures could significantly shorten the curing time of PDLC films,and the film prepared with thrithylamine,took 1 hour curing time,had similar electro-optical properties with that prepared without catalyst,whose curing time was 7 hours.
