Helical structures are integral to myriad highly sophisticated bioarchitectures.The prominent functions have motivated chemists to make artificial helical structures.Of particular interest are helicates because of their intrinsic chirality,nanoscale shapes and rich physico-chemical properties and have been shown as superb molecular systems in bottom-up assembly of smart materials,devices and machines with programmed properties and functions.
