In this work,anti-corrosion performance of cold-sprayed aluminium coating on Q235 steel was studied by electrochemical methods.Thermal-sprayed aluminum coating, pure aluminum and Q235 steel were also studied for comparison. The result indicates that both cold-sprayed and thermal sprayed aluminum coating can act as corrosion barrier and provide cathodic protection for the substrate.Passivity phenomenon was observed for cold-sprayed aluminum coating, while its potential is only about 150mV negative than Q235 steel. The EIS of cold-sprayed aluminium coating indicates that the corrosion process develops with two stages: the first stage is rapid dissolving of aluminum, the second stage is passivity formation. The cold-sprayed aluminum coating exhibits higher anti-corrosion performance than thermal-sprayed aluminum coating mainly due to its low porosity and oxidation.
