A healthy residential area should not only meet the needs of peoples everyday life,should also be able to provide people more comfort and promote interpersonal communication.The space environment of some old residential areas in China has been unable to satisfy more needs of people due to the social development.In this paper,in order to improve the environment of residential space and promote healthy development of the community,we select typical old residential areas built in 1980s in the middle of Jiefang Road in Dalian as the research object.Then we analyze the problems existing in the space based on the research methods of environment-behavior studies and we give appropriate evaluations.At last,we put forward some design strategies on improving the space environment in residential areas.
