In anaerobic and neutral conditions, parts of heterotrophic denitrifying bacteria can use the ferrous iron as electron donors for denitrification.Ferrous iron was usually oxidated to weak crystalline or amorphous Fe (Ⅲ) oxides with highly ability of adsorption and deposition of phosphorus、arsenic. The bacteria commonly exist in anaerobic reduced rivers sediments and wetland. The Oxidation Fe2+ by the bacteria in the anaerobic conditions may influence the migration and transformation of some pollutant, such as phosphorus、arsenic、lead etc.
