The risks caused by Toxoplasma gondii infection have been reported in many studies.However, most of the mechanisms of infection-mediated invasion, pathogenic process and pathogenesis of birth defect are still poorly understood.Previous studies have been mainly focused on major antigens expression and biological activity of Toxoplasma gondii.This review article highlights the role of microPET and specific tracer agent(radioligand?) in the research of glucose metabolism and dopamine receptor related disease induced by Toxoplasm gondii infection, thus providing new evidence for the understanding of the mechanism of birth defect caused by Toxoplasma gondii infection.
