To clear the dynamics of shikimate accumulation and chlorophyll relative content in C hederacea Wall.with two growth stage after glyphosate application.Shikimate accumulation and chlorophyll relative content was determined by spectrophotometric assay and the SPAD-502 readings, respectively.Shikimate accumulation levels keep declining at the dose of 410 g a.i./ha.The SPAD values declined to 42 then decreased to the control levels. The amount of shikimate accumulation in the elder plants decreased to 2145.3 μg/g at 4 days then declined to 907.1μg/g after 1640 g a.i./ha glyphosate application and the SPAD values declined to 38.3 then increased slightly. The amount of shikimate accumulation in the young plants keep increasing to 2258.2μg/g at this dosage while the relative chlorophyll content in the leaves of young plants keep declining after treatment which the SPAD values was 29.4 at 7 days after treatment, it is 0.56 fold lower than the control levels. All the shikimate and chlorophyll can reflect the sensitive of C hederacea to the glyphosate. This result can use for developing the methods to investigative the grass that are naturally resistant to glyphosate.
