Scandium-complexed dendritic nanoreactors (SCDNS) on silica, featured with mushroom-like dendrites and deep-falling cavities, were evaluated as catalysts for Friedel-Crafts acylation reactions. The results showed the nanoenvironment of SCDNS played a dominant role in improving the activity of substrates.Even fluorobenzene could be acylated smoothly, which hardly occurs in most cases. Moreover, the catalysts can be easily recovered by simple filtration and reused for several times without significant loss of activity.
