Water as electrolyte solvent in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs) would negatively shift the conduction band of TiO2 because water molecules irreversibly change the interfacial properties of the dyed TiO2 film.This narrows the driving force for charge injection and increases the possibility of charge recombination.
