The catalytic enantioselective hydroxylation promoted by quatemary ammonium salt from cinchonine as a phase-transfer catalyst is described.Treatment of 2-tert-butoxycarbonyl-1-indanone, a kind of β-keto esters, with cumyl hydroperoxide as the oxygen source under mild reaction condition afforded the corresponding a-oxidation of β-keto ester.
