It has already been theoretically predicted that the biaxiality may play an important role in stabilizing the blue phases(BPs)due to the molecular biaxiality relieving some of the frustration of the defect lines.Herein,we report a simple method for widening the temperature range of blue phase liquid crystals by doping thiophene-based bent-shaped mesogens into a chiral nematic liquid crystal host(N*LC).Different concentrations were studied and temperature range as wide as 25.9 oC was obtained.The electro-optical performances of these blue phase liquid crystals were also evaluated.
