Plant chloroplast Magnesium chelatase is the first and key enzyme in chlorophyll biosynthesis branch, and catalyzes the insertion of Mg2+ into protoporphyrin Ⅸ.Its three subunits were reported to be also involved in other different pathways, and interact with other proteins. For example,H subunit is an anti-sigma factor for SigE in Synechocystis sp.PCC 6803[3],and interacts with the Mg-protoporphyrin Ⅸ methyltransferase [1,4].
