Remazol Brilliant Blue R (RBBR) is one of the anthraquinone dyes and its blue-colored effluents released by various industries may be carcinogenic, mutagenic and toxic.Hence, many studies have been conducted to decolorize and degrade RBBR by white rot fungi since they are able to degrade a variety of recalcitrant compounds including lignin, a biopolymer in wood.Phlebia brevispora, a white rot fungus, has been investigated to degrade persistent organic pollutants, such as PCDD, DDT, and PCBs.
