Halogens (especially bromine and iodine) play an important role in the chemistry of the troposphere.Moreover,they are believed to interact with sulfur chemistry and therefore impact on aerosol formation processes.A general aim of SOLAS is to better understand oceanic emissions of halogen and sulfur species and their impact on the atmosphere.This improved understanding will require quantification of processes using detailed 3D models.
