Modern electric vehicles (EVs) and hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) require a reliable battery management system (BMS).The software of the embedded BMS is developed based on practicality with the characteristics of universality, intelligent, individuation and friendly interaction. It is an evolution of modular software programming and distributed design of an embedded BMS.This paper presents the implementation of BMS based on the MATLAB/Simulink software platform which can be generalized in EV and HEV applications. Moreover the state-of-charge (SoC) estimation based on ampere-hour integral method is analyzed in this work. The accuracy and reliability of the SoC estimation module is validated both under laboratory condition and road test.
