When the demand for finding new refractory materials which can sustain molten metal at very high temperature over a longtime becomes imperative,yttrium titanate or Y2Ti2O7,the main phase precipitated in oxide dispersion strengthened(ODS)steel,has been considered a promising candidate.In our previous study,sintered bodies of Y2Ti2O7 were firstly prepared by hot-pressing method,then were used to fabricate some sandwiches with metal foils.The micro-structural observation and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy of the sandwich revealed that the molten metal had slightly penetrated the ceramic.
