The eddy covariance technique using openpath gas analyzer is the only direct measurement technique of the airsea gas flux.However,the greatest difficulties in the turbulent flux measurement by this technique over the open ocean are the correction of apparent wind velocity and the flow distortion,which are caused by the ship motion.We developed the simplified system for the ship motion correction on the R/V MIRAI,JAMSTEC,and can observe the true wind velocity (Takahashietal.,2005).However,we need to discuss the accuracy of ship motion correction and the extent of flow distortion.
