Current studies of crystallization kinetics of glass fiber reinforced polypropylene limitedly focus on short glass fibers and isothermal crystallization. Here,by contrast,we expand the scope of application of model of crystallization kinetics that Caze model can precisely predict the non-isothermal crystallization behaviors for prepreg tapes consisting of continuous glass fiber and polypropylene. The kinetic parameters are established through systematical experiments. We also reveal that the onset crystallization temperature, crystallization peak temperature, crystallization enthalpy and the half time of crystallization decrease with the raising cooling rate. The optimum cooling rates are established to achieve the fastest nucleation rate and the smallest grain distribution. These obtained results provide a theoretical basis for the practical hot-press molding process of preparing automotive lightweight structural parts.
