In order to achieve comprehensive utilization of coking coal with maceral separation technique,this paper prepared the concentrates by float-sink test and screening test based on the coking coals of ranks (Rran,%) varying from 0.88 to 1.73 in KaiLuan coalfield,and petrography analysis of these concentrates was carried out.Distribution of vitrinite was attained.The concentrates with fine size and low density were characterized by higher vitrinite content and lower inertinite content for given coal sample.The good liberation of macerals in coal samples of different ranks by crushing was analyzed.Comparisons of size- and density-based separation for maceral separation were studied.Predictions of vitrinite recovery and inertinite reduction by different separation methods were made and a promising and reasonable separation technique was proposed.
